Choosing RC Airplanes
Slow flyers are the perfect introduction to rc airplanes. They are easy to fly and can be flown in small areas, like indoors or your backyard.
This is good because you can get some practice at home before you head out to the field with a regular electric or gas powered airplane.
RC toy airplanes are the perfect introduction to the r/c hobby for your child, or another special young one in your life. Getting a kid an airplane is a great way for them to spend there extra time, and be outdoors too.
There are two types of rc gliders and sailplanes, powered and non powered. Buying a glider or sailplane for your first rc airplane experience is a good idea.
While I recommend beginners start with an electric rc airplane, rc gliders are much slower and are easier to recover from a potential accident. Usually the transmitter on a glider operates on only 2 channels.
Park flyers are the perfect introduction to rc airplanes. They are easy to fly and can be flown in small areas, like your backyard or the local park. This is good because you can get some practice at home before you head out to the field with a regular electric or gas powered airplane.
Gas rc trainer airplanes are a must for the beginner who is just starting out with a gas powered airplane. Most gas trainers are equipped with a high wing design and a large dihedral in the back. Gas trainers are ideal for the beginner because it has a size 40 engine (.40 cubic inch engine) and a 3 channel radio system that can be upgraded to a 4 channel when the time is right.
Gas rc airplanes are a little more complicated then electric planes, but are much more enjoying to fly. Gas model airplanes are great because they fly faster and longer then electric planes.
Also, the prices have dropped considerably, and have become much easier to fly. If you need help fixing your gas powered rc airplane, visit my help section.
These planes have more stability, increased durability, and the parts are easier to remove and replace then other airplanes. Electric RC trainers come either ready to fly or almost ready to fly. If you want to start flying right when you get the plane, then I recommend you choose a RTF model.
The power of RC electric flight is amazing, not to mention much easier to own and operate :) With glow engines there is the problem of maintaining them and making sure they are up to snuff.
Over my years as an RC pilot, I have found that beginners and advanced pilots both seem to like electric RC airplanes, so it is a great idea to buy one as your first airplane.
Simple electric RC airplanes are great because they are very easy to fly, and you really only have too master two controls. One control being the speed and the other being the direction you want to move in.
